Our Purpose

The Mexican American University has been an All Academic Institution and Research Center for 18 years. The Mexican American University is an alternative university for the purpose of assisting learners to develop careers, and to promote a better understanding of the Mexican American community. From this direction, there is also the need to sustain job opportunities, and cultural enhancement. In California, Texas, Arizona and throughout the southwest is home for 35 million Mexican Americans. Today, African Americans hold 17 Colleges and Universities. In regards to Mexican Americans, there is not one. Consequently, since the destruction of the Azteca Empire in 1521, there has not been one university which is dedicated to the accumulative knowledge and intelligence of the new world. Nor has there ever been an educational institution which is dedicated to creating leaders and organizers.
Indeed, MAU has taken the first step toward advancing learners and the community to become leaders. For too long, people have ignored the need to create an alternative institution that will benefit the community.

The concept of the MAU was also to create a school that willto give learners a better opportunity. MAU will also be seeking funds and grants.
It is evident that most traditional universities are more concerned about turning-out people for the working force, and have completely ignored the vast number of Mexican Americans and students who have a need to advance intellectually, socially, and culturally. At this time, the Mexican American University is engaged in creating partnerships and sponsors. The Mexican American Universy will focus on Mexican American Studies and Communications.
